Beginning her career in US college basketball, Morris hit the court with Cochise College, West Virginia University and Mississippi State University, acting as glue to each team before her graduation in 2022. In 2024, Morris was awarded Newcomer of the Year at The City League (TLC) Honors Awards Banquet, demonstrating her competitive prowess.
Making her mark in the WNBL for the first time in the 2024-25 season, the 26-year-old joined the Sydney Flames, where she had a season best 15-point, 14-rebound, 3-block game against WNBA import Brianna Turner and the Adelaide Lightning. Morris proved a defensive asset to the squad, averaging 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks across last season.
Morris also has significant international experience, following court-time in the Czech Republic, Mexico, Greece, Israel, Turkey and Taiwan, demonstrating her depth of experience and solidifying her as an expert asset to the Lynx.
Speaking on her signing with the Lynx, Morris said she was excited to join the club to experience a new side of the WNBL.
“I’m really excited to join the Lynx,” Morris said. “I really enjoyed my first season in Australia with Sydney last season, so I’m looking forward to expanding my experience with Perth. I’ve really enjoyed my time in this League so far, and I’m feeling inspired to get to work on my game and see what we can achieve as a team this season.”
Lynx head coach, Ryan Petrik, also welcomed the news.
"Yemiyah is someone we were close to signing a few years ago, so to get to see her up close last year was great for us. She has real length and presence about her; it wasn’t just that she averaged 1.5 blocks in just 16 minutes last year, it was more the amount of times guards would go to turn the corner, see Yemiyah waiting down there for them, and just turn around. We’re really looking forward to having her inside presence on both ends of the court for us in 2025/26.”
Morris joins an exciting line-up for the 2025-26 WNBL season, becoming another athlete to ink their commitment to the team alongside Amy Atwell, Alex Ciabattoni, Steph Gorman, Tegan Graham, Anneli Maley, Kiara Waite and Ally Wilson.
