Lok arrives in Perth from the Southside Melbourne Flyers, where she completed a breakout WNBL campaign and further established herself as one of the league’s emerging talents. Born in Ethiopia and raised in Melbourne, the 25‑year‑old guard brings athleticism, versatility and a strong two‑way presence to the Lynx backcourt.
Standing at 180cm, Lok is known for her defensive strength, physicality and ability to apply pressure at both ends of the floor. She has the capacity to guard multiple positions, play with pace in transition and impact games through her energy and work ethic.
Lok’s career has also included time with the Townsville Fire in the WNBL, alongside a standout collegiate career in the United States at George Washington University, where she developed into a reliable scorer and defender. She is also a proud representative of the South Sudanese basketball community, having captained the country’s inaugural women’s national team.
Perth Lynx head coach, Ryan Petrik, said Lok’s addition to the list was an exciting step for the club as it builds toward WNBL27.
“Nya was a 1-player fastbreak in the WNBL last season, and for the pace we like to play at, we know she can help take that part of our game to another level.
“But it’s the perimeter defense we were most in need of, and Nya delivers that in spades. We had a hard time slowing down elite guards in the playoffs last season, so adding Nya will help solidify that end of the court for us”.
Lok said she was excited to be starting a new chapter with the Lynx.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Perth Lynx,” Lok said. “This is a club with a strong culture and a clear vision, and I’m excited to contribute, keep growing my game and embrace what’s ahead over the next two seasons.”
Lok joins Anneli Maley and Alex Ciabattoni as players already locked into the Perth Lynx roster for the WNBL27 season.
