All eyes will be on the Perth Lynx this weekend when they unveil their marquee import - Han Xu - in Canberra.
The Lynx remain on the road this week and are ready to fight for redemption after a disappointing loss in Round 6.
Taking on the Caps - who have thus far succumbed to five losses this season (2-5) - the Lynx will be keen to take this opportunity as a chance to rectify their position on the ladder. After falling to Canberra by only four points (80-84) in the WNBL preseason, the game is truly open to the toughest competitor on the day.
Despite their defeat at the hands of Bendigo Spirit (87-58) in Traralgon last week, a strong performance from League royalty, Ally Wilson (16 points, five rebounds, five assists), held up the Lynx’s game, preventing them from slipping further under the wrath of the Spirit. Anneli Maley (nine points, 11 rebounds) - falling just short of achieving a double-double - was her ever strong-self, playing hard despite the immense pressure applied by the Spirit.
The Caps - also falling to a significant loss at the hands of top-of-the-table Townsville Fire (101-61) last round - will be bolstered by a home-town advantage to carry them towards a win on Saturday at AIS Arena.
After being knocked down a peg after their defeat on Sunday, the Lynx will be fierce in their determination to reclaim second position on the ladder. A special arrival this week in the form of 2’11 Chinese basketball star, Han Xu, is sure to give the Lynx a new lease on the game, bringing an excitement into their play that will likely be matched by no other team for the remainder of the season.
