Perth Lynx hit the road again this week, as they venture cross country to visit regional Gippsland to take on Bendigo Spirit for the second round in a row, at the Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium.
Following a win in their only match of Round 5 against Spirit, the Lynx will be ready and raring to repeat their on-court performance, searching for their second consecutive win against the Spirit squad. A court domination provided by Amy Atwell (21 points, six rebounds) and Alex Ciabattoni (16 points, three rebounds) posed a huge threat to the Spirit, holding strong against their opposition's match leader Izzy Borlase (16 points, 5 rebounds).
The Spirit was handed a confidence booster following their defeat at the hands of the Lynx, closing out Round 5 with a victory against Adelaide Lightning, snatching an eight-point win. Ever-strong Spirit co-captain and League legend, Kelsey Griffin, will pose a threat to the Lynx side, after providing 18 points and 12 rebounds to the scoreboard against Lightning.
With five wins under their belt so far this season, the Lynx will take on third-ranked Bendigo Spirit ready to defend their 15-point Round 5 win and second spot on the ladder, with a strong Lynx side prepared to face a freshly victorious Spirit team.
With both teams away from their home court and fans - despite on paper it being a Spirit home fixture - it is truly anyone’s game.
