Perth Lynx is set to take on Geelong Venom at the Geelong Arena this weekend, with a strong 2-0 start to the season under their belt.

Following an incredible showcase of grit in their Round 2match v the Sydney Flames at home - the Lynx demolished the Flames’ 10-point,three-quarter- time-lead, to claim a 6-point victory (73-67) – the Lynx now hit the road again to face the Venom.

It was a career milestone game for Lynx co-captain, Amy Atwell (24 points, 9 rebounds), where not only was she the leading scorer for her team, but she notched the milestone of 1000 WNBL career points.

Geelong gear up to face the Lynx following a one win, two loss start to the season, going down to Bendigo Spirit by six (62-55) last time they hit the court.  The Venom fought hard despite coming out second best, briefly managing to hold off the reigning champions from scoring, gaining a single point advantage midway through the fourth quarter, after trailing by 12 points. Their fight was led by US import, Mackenzie Holmes, with a massive tally of 30 points.

Meanwhile, Lynx’s Round 2 Player of the Match, Anneli Maley (17 points, 17 rebounds), is set to be a tough one to encounter for not only Holmes but also Jazmin Shelley.  Shelley has been a dominant force in the season to date, accruing 39 points so far.  Meanwhile Lynx veteran, Alex Ciabattoni - who is currently averaging 19 points - will also potentially pose as a threat to Venom’s starting five.

The Lynx is also hoping to have both Ally Wilson and Steph Gorman available to play on Saturday night, with both having missed the opening two games of the season due to injury
