The tour will again bring elite women’s basketball, community engagement and some of Western Australia’s best local talent to the Goldfields.
Running from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 September, the Goldfields Tour will provide local schools, young basketballers, coaches and fans with the opportunity to connect directly with the Perth Lynx ahead of the 2026/27 WNBL season.
A major focus of the tour will be Wednesday’s community program, with the full Lynx squad spending the day engaging with the Goldfields community.
Players will visit local schools across the greater Kalgoorlie-Boulder region throughout the morning, before taking part in community basketball clinics later in the afternoon.
Lynx coaches will also deliver dedicated high-performance clinics and a 'coach-the-coach' session, providing local athletes and coaches with direct access to the knowledge and experience of a professional WNBL program.
The community program is an important part of the Perth Lynx, Northern Star and City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder partnership, with each of the organisations committed to creating meaningful opportunities for regional communities and bringing elite women’s sport closer to young people across Western Australia.
Complimentary tickets will also be distributed through the Lynx’s school visits, providing students with the opportunity to not only meet the players but return to see them compete in action later in the week.
Perth Lynx General Manager, Chris Earl, said Northern Star and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's support continued to play an important role in enabling the club to connect with communities beyond metropolitan Perth.
“Northern Star has been a tremendous supporter of the Perth Lynx and, importantly, shares our commitment to creating genuine opportunities for people across regional Western Australia,” Earl said.
“With the support of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, this trip is about much more than playing two pre-season games. The opportunity for our players to spend a full day visiting schools, working with young basketballers and engaging directly with the community is what makes the tour really special.
“For a young person in the Goldfields to have a WNBL player visit their school, take part in a clinic and then have the opportunit to watch them play later in the week creates a really strong connection.
“We’re providing complimentary tickets through those school visits and keeping tickets affordable across both games because we want as many families and young people as possible to experience the Lynx.
“We want the Perth Lynx to represent all of Western Australia, and Northern Star and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's support allows us to take our players and coaches into communities where that access doesn’t happen every week.”
The tour will also showcase the strength of basketball talent throughout Western Australia, with the Lynx set to play two pre-season games against an WA All Star Select Team at the Goldfields Basketball Centre.
The All Star Select Team will feature players from across the NBL1 West competition, providing some of WA’s leading local talent with the opportunity to test themselves against WNBL opposition and showcase their abilities against players competing at the highest level of women’s basketball in the state.
The games will also highlight the pathway available to aspiring players across Western Australia, connecting grassroots and NBL1 basketball with the professional game.
Northern Star General Manager – KCGM Underground, Vic Simpson, said the Goldfields Tour was an exciting opportunity for the community to see elite women's sport in action, and to learn from some of the state's top athletes.

“The school visits and community clinics are a particularly important part of the tour, giving young people the chance to meet professional athletes, learn from them and see first-hand where sport can lead.
“To then have those students be able to attend the games and see the Lynx alongside some of the best local basketball talent in Western Australia makes the experience even more meaningful.
“We’re excited to see the Lynx back in the region and tohelp deliver an experience that extends well beyond the basketball court.”
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor, Glenn Wilson, said the return of the Perth Lynx was a fantastic opportunity for local residents and aspiring athletes.
“We’re really pleased to welcome the Perth Lynx back to Kalgoorlie-Boulder for a second year. Last year’s tour was a great success, with a strong turnout and plenty of excitement around having a WNBL team here in the Goldfields.
“Having professional players here gives local young people the chance to meet athletes they might normally only see on a screen, take part in clinics and learn from players and coaches at the highest level. It also gives them an opportunity to see what they can achieve if they choose to take their basketball further.
“It’s a great opportunity to showcase our local basketball community and the talent we have across the Goldfields. Seeing the Lynx take on some of WA’s best players will make for two great games and give local fans the chance to see some really high-quality basketball right here in our community.

The Goldfields Tour, presented by Northern Star and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, is also supported by the Goldfields Giants and the Western Australian Government through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS).
