The Perth Lynx will take their home court on Sunday night, as they gear up for their second match against the Townsville Fire.
With a snappy turnaround from Game One in Townsville on Thursday night, the Lynx will take the big stage in front of their fans, as they dig deep to secure their final shot at taking home the WNBL26 Championship.
After knocking reigning champions Bendigo Spirit out of the running for a back-to-back titles in a sweep of their Semi Final series, the Lynx were defeated on Thursday night by the Fire (79-88) in Game One of the Championship Series.
With the first half evenly poised, the Fire stole the show in the third 'premiership' quarter, largely thanks to a 10-point rampage from Courtney Woods. The Lynx fought back in the final term, but the damage had already been done.
Unsurprisingly, Woods lead the stats (22 points, six rebounds), along with Miela Sowah (20 points) and Alicia Froling (17 points, seven rebounds) for the Fire.
Away from their home territory, the Fire will have to work to combat the Perth-bred strength, with Amy Atwell (19 points, five rebounds), Han Xu (16 points, six rebounds) and double-double superstar Anneli Maley (12 points, 15 rebounds) holding strong.
With the Lynx’s WNBL26 future hanging in the balance, the Perth squad will leave their all on the court on Sunday, no doubt buoyed by what has been confirmed as a sell out home crowed, slated to be the biggest home attendance in the history of the club.
Those who have not managed to secure seats to the blockbuster clash at Perth HPC on Sunday can still catch all the action watching via 9NOW and ESPN.
